Many thanks to all of you who replied.

It seems quite a few of you have coin operated lockers (particularly in Archives, Local Studies areas). All of you seem to charge £1, which seems reasonable. One of you made the useful point that all the lockers need to be cleared out at the end of the day.

One authority asked for a deposit of £1 (or a note if the customer did not have change) then gave the key to the customer.

One authority had looked into the provision of lockers, but had been deterred by security considerations.
