Just a provocative valentine day question in anticipation. How do dyslexia advisors are copying with current mortgage payments or travelling expenses in London with a salary of 11k? Are they moonlighting or this is a typical case of footballers (f-wives) becoming  advisers?

UNIVERSITY OF WESTMINSTER

The University of Westminster is seeking a Dyslexia Adviser for the Harrow campus for two days a week.  You will work as part of the Disability Services team providing specialist advice to students with specific learning difficulties and prospective students regarding access to the campus, facilities and individual needs.

You will join a team of two Disability Advisers, one Dyslexia Adviser, two Dyslexia Study Skills Tutors, two administrators and the Disability Services Manager.  We also have ten additional Disability Tutors and a designated Disability Officer in each of four libraries. 

You will need excellent verbal and written communication skills, and be able to work with people from a wide variety of backgrounds, experiences and expectations, demonstrating a commitment to equality of opportunity.  You will also need to be able to maintain accurate case notes and student records.

You will be qualified at degree level with a post-graduate qualification in specific learning difficulties or equivalent, and at least two years experience of advising students with learning difficulties in a higher education setting. You will have an understanding of the nature of dyslexia and at least two years experience of administering screening tests. You should also have an up-to-date knowledge of the Disability Discrimination Act and its implications for students in higher education.

 

This is a 12 week temporary position in the first instant.
