I was told this at a > Goddess festival in about 2004. I heard this same thing back in 1978, and it had nothing to do with Paganism. It was lesbian separatist politics making use of folklore and literary theory for inspiration. When I very occasionally run across similar assertions now coming from Dianic groups, it seems clear that the politics found/created a spiritual expression that made sense to it. Harry Roth
