Hello All,

Frouke Hermens, Department of Psychology, Royal Holloway University of London will give a research seminar on Friday 8th FebruaryAll are welcome to attend!

Date:
Friday 8th February

Time: 1.15pm

Place: Dept. Optometry & Visual Science, City University, Northampton Square, room C244 (CM450)

Title:
Visual backward masking: Data and modelling

Abstract:

In visual backward masking, a target is followed by a mask, impairing performance on the target. In spatial vision research, most simultaneous masking studies focus on spatial processing, whereas in backward masking studies spatial aspects are largely neglected.  In my talk, I will discuss the results of visual backward masking experiments demonstrating that this divide-and-conquer strategy to investigate visual masking is untenable; space and time have to be investigated jointly. Moreover, I will present a model that can explain many of the experimental findings.”
