Title: “Visual backward masking: Data and modelling”
Abstract:
“In visual backward masking, a target is followed by a
mask, impairing performance on the target. In spatial vision
research, most simultaneous masking studies focus on spatial processing,
whereas in backward masking studies spatial aspects are largely neglected.
In my talk, I will discuss the results of visual backward masking
experiments demonstrating that this divide-and-conquer strategy to investigate
visual masking is untenable; space and time have to be investigated jointly.
Moreover, I will present a model that can explain many of the experimental
findings.”
