It is the same in terms of DN/CA, however it's renewed.
It's ease to check:

openssl x509 -dates -noout -in NEW.voms.gridpp.ac.uk.cert.pem
notBefore=Dec 17 16:27:58 2007 GMT
notAfter=Jan 15 16:27:58 2009 GMT

It would be ridiculous to keep there expired certificate, wouldn't it?

Does it confuse you that the new "hostcert.pem" and the old
"hostcert.pem" in the /etc/grid-security directory have the same name?
