Clinical Research Fellow in Dementia University of Oxford Nuffield Department of Clinical Medicine Salary scale for Clinical Grade E64: £29,364 - £47,104 per annum The Department is pleased to offer an opportunity for a suitably medically qualified candidate to work as a Clinical Research Fellow exploring the potential of new developments in functional MRI technology in the evaluation of novel translational compounds in phase II development for treating Alzheimer’s disease (AD), and possibly other clinically relevant aspects of dementia. The post is suitable for a clinician interested in research training, and the research project would be suitable for submission for an MD thesis. The job will be based in the Department of Clinical Geratology, a unit within the Nuffield Department of Clinical Medicine, and the Oxford Centre for Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging of the Brain. You will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the research project and will need to devote a significant proportion of your time to the imaging tasks, e.g. design, collection and analysis of data, as well as the clinical organisation. Appropriate training will be provided. You will possess a high level of personal motivation in research and will be meticulous in attention to detail. The ability to interact positively and flexibly with colleagues is also essential. You need to be a medical practitioner qualified to work in the United Kingdom; will possess MRCP or equivalent and will have previous experience of working in the field of dementia, but training will be provided. Previous experience of working in a research environment, including contributing to publications would be an advantage. This position is available for 2 years in the first instance.
