It looks like a very comprehensive report, and I shall look forward to reading it in more detail... best wishes, Penny ________________________________ From: A forum for discussion on midwifery and reproductive health research. [mailto:[log in to unmask]] On Behalf Of Hunter, Billie Sent: Tuesday, January 29, 2008 10:54 PM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: Clinical pathway research report - now available Dear list members I have recently completed an ethnographic study exploring the implementation of a clinical pathway for normal labour in Wales UK, funded by the Health Foundation. The study focused on the experiences of midwives, mothers, doctors and midwifery managers. The clinical pathway was found to have complex and unexpected outcomes, particularly impacting on the working practices of midwives and on midwife-doctor relationships. The findings raise some interesting questions about the subtle effects of using clinical pathways in midwifery.
