Development Control Archaeologist

A person is sought to fill this important post to provide an archaeological advice service to the eight district planning authorities in the county and to Derby City Council, particularly in regard to planning applications which impact on archaeological sites. Applicants will be expected to demonstrate they are able to work unsupervised and to deadlines and have good communication skills and basic IT skills. You will be expected to prepare briefs for archaeological work, to approve specifications and monitor ongoing projects. You must have a sound knowledge of British Archaeology and current field techniques. You will also have an understanding of the planning system, particularly in regard to the conservation and management of the historic environment. You will need to have a degree in archaeology and relevant experience.
