We think this may indicate that vmware is unable to talk to the network pseudo-interfaces that should be running in your Windows session. As with most Windows issues you will need to try "Turn it off then turn it on again" (TM). These interfaces should get restarted when Windows reboots.

Incidentally gcc is not required for sourcing the rc files. You can simply ignore the error message or, if you can't ignore it, replace the file $FSLDIR/etc/fslconf/fslmachtype.sh with http://www.fmrib.ox.ac.uk/~duncan/fslmachtype.sh

This patch will be made to the shipping fsl soon.
