The NCC-C, based in Cardiff city centre, is one of seven collaborating centres established by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) and is managed by Velindre NHS Trust.  The main remit of the Centre is to develop and produce evidence-based clinical guidelines for the NHS in England and Wales on treating and caring for people with cancer.  The Centre works in partnership with Cardiff University and other key organisations, representing relevant health professions and patient groups.

 

We are looking to appoint an adaptable and enthusiastic researcher to our expanding team.  Your role will involve producing systematic reviews of research evidence to inform the work of the guideline development groups on behalf of the NCC-C. You will also contribute and participate in quality and research activities of the Centre.

 

As a postgraduate in a science, biomedical or health related subject, you will have experience of literature searching, synthesis of research evidence, biostatistics and writing reports.  Experience of critical appraisal, clinical guideline development and presenting to small groups is desirable.  The ability to work within a multi-disciplinary environment is essential, as is an understanding of evidence-based healthcare and appropriate methods used in health service research.  Experience in project management and knowledge of oncology would be welcomed.  With excellent communication skills, you will be able to work on your own initiative, as well as within a team, and adhere to tight deadlines.

The salary range quoted is an incremental band.  The successful applicant will be appointed to the base point of the salary band unless an incremental credit application is made by the Appointing Manager.  Incremental credit applicants will only be considered where an individual is able to demonstrate relevant knowledge and experience applicable to the post for which they are applying.  Any queries in relation to incremental credit applications should be directed to the Recruitment Team.
