Foyer-UNIAID Accommodation Bursary Scheme – Application process is now open (until 3rd March)

For full information, and to apply, go to www.uniaid.org.uk/bursaries

The Foyer-UNIAID Accommodation Bursary scheme has grown this year to 60 places for the academic year 2008/09. The scheme is intended for students who would benefit most from an accommodation bursary, especially those who would otherwise be at risk of withdrawing from their studies. The scheme has been made possible by the generosity of UNITE, the UK’s largest student accommodation provider.

Please promote the bursary to your students, perhaps through:

·        including a link on the university’s website (I attach a logo for your use)

·        forwarding this information to student services/accommodation staff

·        forwarding the information to student mailing lists

·        student newsletters

·        putting the information put on relevant notice boards

·        encouraging specific students to apply.

We are working so that the Foyer-UNIAID Accommodation Bursary scheme will grow in future years and that more universities will follow the lead of Nottingham Trent University and donate accommodation places via this highly effective route. As an extra boost to join the scheme, institutions are able to count their expenditure (in kind) against their Access Agreement in the monitoring returns required by OFFA.

The rooms are in particular student halls and in 2008/09 bursaries will be available for students studying in the following cities:

·        Aberdeen

·        Birmingham

·        Bristol

·        Cardiff

·        Coventry

·        Edinburgh

·        Glasgow

·        Leeds

·        Liverpool

·        London

·        Manchester

·        Nottingham

·        Sheffield

·        Southampton

Applications are made online. Guidelines are available at: http://www.uniaid.org.uk/bursaries/.
