The old Bells Handbook on Rouen by Thomas Perkins says that rebuilding of St Maclou began in 1436 - at which date Pierre Robin finished plans for the new church, and work went on until the end of the century. Perkins mentions the names of several of those who directed works during this period. He notes also that the lead-covered spire was added in 1520.
