medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture

Incidentally, and related to Tom's reference, I saw that Ken Wolfe's book
_Christian Martyrs in Muslim Spain_ is now avaliable on-line :
http://libro.uca.edu/martyrs/martyrs.htm

(so you don't have to get on your bike and visit the Archibald Alexander
Library ...)

medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture

One difficult period is documented for 9th century Spain, see the recent
books on the Cordoba martyrs:

** Mark
*The martyrs of Córdoba : community and family conflict in an age of
mass conversion*
  Coope, Jessica A., 1958-
  *1995*
owned by: Archibald S. Alexander Library (College Avenue)

*#2* Mark
*Christian martyrs in Muslim Spain*
  Wolf, Kenneth Baxter, 1957-
  *1988*
owned by: Archibald S. Alexander Library (College Avenue)

*#3* Mark
*The martyrs of Córdoba (850-859) A study of the sources*
  Colbert, Edward P.
  *1962*
owned by: Archibald S. Alexander Library (College Avenue)

Ideas of Convivencia in Spain should not be exaggerated, although there
was plenty of contact. Thus the first Latin translation of the Koran
was made in Toledo for Peter the Venerable in the 12th century. See
most recently:
