Map out a data career protecting the environment. Database Scientist £18,900 - £21,400 plus benefits Bath Everything we do - from cutting pollution to managing flood risk and business operations – relies heavily on the production of quality data. Without it we cannot make the intelligent decisions that help us to protect our environment. Delivering this vital service is our National Data and Information Management Team. Join them, and you will get to work with the very latest technology and datasets - none more so than in the sphere of Geographical Information Systems (GIS). That’s because you will help manage the system’s Central Data Store, support applications such as Easimap and connect to over 12,000 GIS users nationwide. By supporting the research and reporting of such a wide variety of internal groups and GIS users, you will develop highly-specialised quality assurance and distribution skills. We would prefer you to have experience in UNIX and XML programming languages and SQL and data quality assurance expertise. More important is that you’ve worked before with large GIS datasets and ESRI’s ArcGIS software. Work for what you wish for.
