My apologies for being slightly off-topic, but this is something that is relevant to BUGS. I've put up a blog post about the practical importance of focus in DIC. It's something that gets mentioned in the literature, but I suspect has not been appreciated by a lot of users of BUGS and DIC (me included!) Anyway, the post is here: <http://deepthoughtsandsilliness.blogspot.com/2007/12/focus-on-dic.html> All comments welcom! If anyone can show in practice how to calculate the re-focussed DIC by simulation, I at least would appreciate it. I tried it yesterday, but was doing something wrong, so I guess I've mis-understood something. Again. Bob -- Bob O'Hara Dept. of Mathematics and Statistics P.O.
