Chandra Balijepalli Dr N C Balijepalli ITS, University of Leeds CALL FOR PAPERS (PLEASE FORWARD IT TO RESEARCHERS WHO MAY FIND THIS INTERESTING) Special issue of Transportation Research Part-C on Vehicular Wireless Communication Networks for Transportation Guest editors: Umit Ozunger (Ohio State University, USA), Satish Ukkusuri (Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, USA) and Sadayuki Tsugawa (Meijo University, Japan) Submission Deadline: 31 March 2008 With rapid advances in wireless communication technologies, current research in Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) is advancing the seamless transmission of information within a transportation network. The development of vehicular infrastructure integration (VII) and inter- vehicle networks is one of the most challenging issues for the next generation ITS industry. Due to its interdisciplinary nature, this area has sparked a great deal of interest in more than one research community – transportation researchers, wireless communication researchers and network researchers. In addition, the area has gained significant traction with both public agencies and private industry. The objective of this special issue is to develop a compendium of articles in this exciting area from both transportation and other communities to disseminate state of the art R&D results. A key goal of this special issue is to foster interaction among academia and industry and promote the development of cutting edge ideas related to research issues in vehicular networks with applications in traffic management/optimization, safety and traffic control. The topics of interest include but are not limited to: • Vehicle to vehicle and vehicle-to-infrastructure communications technologies • Vehicle Mobility Management with Communications • Ad-hoc mobile networks • Mobility Simulations with communication implications • Algorithms and Protocols addressing Connectivity and Interference Issues • Cooperative Communications in VANETs • Vehicular Network Performance Modeling and Analysis • Simulation, Implementation, Testbeds, and Field Tests High-quality papers are solicited that will undergo the usual peer-review procedure of the journal for inclusion in the Special Issue.
