Lab in a Lorry Operations Co-ordinator (North West)

The Institute of Physics is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated physical
sciences graduate to join its physics in society team as Operations
Co-ordinator (North West) for Lab in a Lorry.

Lab in a Lorry is an interactive mobile physics laboratory which provides
young people with the opportunity to do experimental physics with
experienced scientists providing guidance. Lab in a Lorry in the North West
is a partnership between the Institute of Physics, the Ogden Trust and the
1851 Commission. The Schlumberger Foundation is a founding partner.

The post-holder will be responsible for the smooth running of Lab in a Lorry
within the North West of England including tour planning, day-to-day
operation of the lorry, briefing of volunteers and liaising with
stakeholders. The post-holder will work closely with other members of the
Lab in a Lorry team.

Applicants should have proven ability of working on complex projects with a
variety of stakeholders as well as a proven ability to work under their own
initiative.  They should have proven ability of communicating science to
young people and excellent team working skills. They should be able to plan
and prioritise their work and meet deadlines.  

This role requires an enhanced Criminal Records Bureau Disclosure.

This is a fixed term contract between 7 January and 31 December 2008.

Salary £22,000 per annum, plus benefits.
