We should be working toward health promotion, health surveillance for employees seen at risk, reducing sickness absence by being proactive in regard to health promotion based on the environment and social areas the employees work in etc. Having worked for an employer that liked to offer full screening for their Directors which included Blood tests, ECGs, Blood pressure, etc on a yearly basis we must make sure we do not become the hand maidens yet again to corporate politics. Yes, I realise that there is a need for close monitoring of individuals sometimes within the OHS but the GP, Practice Nurse and the PCT's are the primary care givers in the community. Not an OHS. What about the shop floor workers, Cleaners, Caterers within industries would they offer this service to them? A copy of the results is provided to the individual . So a satisfied customer there.
