sickness absence is appropriate for the medical condition and
management
may decide to act on the basis of that advice. The Med3
certificate is only
a statement of entitlement to SSP, though many people
treat it as an "open
sesame" for the full company ill health
benefits
scheme.

from my experience the problem still is that HR will not make a
decision on this, especially if I challenge the GP's view, after all I'm only a
nurse!!
But I have to say even when the Holy Grail, sorry, Doctor says the
same they are still reluctant to withdraw full pay and perks and just pay
SSP.
It is because of this we have the sickness absence rates we do, and
plenty of oscilation de plumbage
