In addition to National and UK funding streams, there are a number of European and international funding opportunities that museums, libraries, and archives can take advantage of. This one day seminar will highlight ways in which your organisation can build partnerships, access European funding, deal with the challenges of the latest EU rules and regulations, lay the foundations for international and European funding, and access international sources of funding Training will cover: * EU funding programmes, including trans-national and Structural Funds * Non-EU opportunities, including trusts and foundations, bursaries, grants and awards. * Key requirements for applying to EU programmes and tips for developing a proposal * Tips for building partnerships, inside advice on where to start and how to foster new relationships in Europe and throughout the world. * International funding streams * Incorporating international elements into funding strategies * Developing international partnerships throughout the world Attendees of a previous MLA London-commissioned fundraising course in September described the course as dynamic and well-structured, and were pleased that the information was delivered in a clear and well-paced manner: "Extremely useful session; wonderful training, thank you!" Child Protection for museums, libraries and archives Confused by child protection law and how it applies within your organisation? Need to know more about child protection? Date: Friday 30th November 2007 Time: 09.30am to 4.30pm Venue: Birkbeck Library, Main Building, Malet Street, London, WC1E 7HX This course is for anyone, including staff, volunteers and freelancers, who work with children in their organisation. It will also benefit people responsible for developing education programmes and/or writing child protection policies for their organisation This practical training day aims to ensure that participants leave knowing what is important, what is not, and are confident to make informed decisions on procedures and requirements relating to Child Protection legislation. At the end of the session participants will have knowledge of: * Child protection statues and how they affect their organisation * The processes of the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB), including which staff, volunteers, and freelancers need to be CRB checked and why * Record keeping issues relating to Child Protection legislation, including what paperwork must be kept by organisations, and data protection * Safeguards and protection issues for your staff, volunteers , and the children and young people who use your service * Restrictions and regulations relating to the photography and video-recording of children * Child protection policies * Considering child protection in your communications and advertising Finally it will guide participants in auditing their policy and procedures. The trainer can provide ongoing help in drafting child protection policies , or an organisational "health check" should you require it. The course is for a small number of delegates. Delegates will be asked to complete a short questionnaire outlining the child protection issues and situations that specifically apply to their organisation before they attend this course in order to ensure that their needs can addressed directly on the day.
