Health politics and policy - What's wrong and what needs to change

Dr Alex Scott-Samuel, University of Liverpool

1-2 p.m. Rooms GO4/O5 Public Health Building
University of Birmingham
Edgbaston Campus (near University station)

Abstract: while there are limited signs that the Brown
government wishes to adopt socially cohesive values and public
sector provision of health services, most of the drivers of
increasing health inequality and of wasteful, divisive health
care introduced by Blair remain in place. This presentation will
outline the current situation and summarise what needs to happen
if England is again to espouse health and equity in a society
worthy of that name.
