Hi Charlotte
Your MA Research sounds very interesting.  I have used the concept of time frequently in my work.  Several years ago I did a series of drawings which were partially process based using line.  Each drawing, which consisted of interwoven lines, directly related the very slow process of making them to the amount of time I  spent waiting for other people during a day. I also used the concept of time which I think might be interesting given your reference to Bergson when I did my MA.  I sent painted postcards of landscape so that the memory of what I had seen and drawn did not become a memory for the recipient until they arrived! Effectively they spent a period of time in limbo. I still use the concept of time in my work in that I draw journeys and walks from memory actually replicating the time that they took to get from the beginning to the end of the walk, thus becoming, amongst other things, a record of the passage of time.  the Journey drawings are currently on show at New Greenham arts which is in Newbury, not to far from you.  Please feel free to contact me outside of the forum if you think any of this could be useful to you.

Dear all,
I am currently studying MA fine Art at Winchester
School of Art, and am specialising in Drawing.  As
part if this course, I am conducting research into the
relationship between the drawn mark and our awareness
of time - specifically focussing on Henri Bergson's
concept of duration.  Part of this research will be
conducted through my own visual practice, and I am
very intersted in reaching other artists who feel that
concepts of time are directly related to their
processes of making or showing work.  My own drawings
combine film projection and traditional media - I
would be very interested to hear from anyone who uses
film in connection to their drawing, or has any
thoughts on how the two might (or should?) interact.

With many thanks,
Charlotte Knox-Williams
