There is a small C program in the developers kit. I can read all 6 axes
with ~1000 digit resolution from end to end.
At now the result is written to an X-Window. This window may be hidden
and not getting the focus. I'll try to strip it down
to write the values to stdout.
But we should be aware, that this is a Logitech company as I saw in the
video, and Logitech was never Linux friendly.
They prefer to work only with big players!

guess is that it probably won't work without some driver work from Paul
and/or Bernhard.
However, there is a demand for new controllers to fill the role
formerly occupied by dial boxes. Some people are using the PowerMate,
although it only provides a single dial and button.
If a new controller has the potential to attact a lot of users, then we
want to support it. There are issues though - hundreds of trendy new
input devices appear every year, and then dissappear just as quickly.
Devoting time and effort to developing drivers straight away therefore
risks wasting a lot of development time.
Having said that, this looks like a device with potential. Have you
tried using it with other (non-crystallographic) 3d applications? How
do you rate it for intuitiveness, precision, responsiveness?
If other people want a look, there is a video here:

Random thought: has anyone looked at using multiple mouse
simultaneously?

Hi,
one of us just bought a 3Dconnexion SpaceNavigator.
There is no problem to install the base software on Linux, but how to
use it in coot (Win and/or Linux)?
There is a SW developer kit called xdevelop.tgz.
