The Rothschild Archive
Assistant Archivist: One Year Maternity Cover

The Rothschild Archive is seeking to appoint an Assistant Archivist for a
one-year period (Maternity Cover) to play a key role in developing the use
and accessibility of a multi-faceted archive of international importance,
based in the City of London.

The Rothschild Archive houses the records of many branches of the
Rothschild family throughout Europe. Among the collections are records of
many of their activities in the fields of art, architecture, wine, public
service and charity, alongside the archives of N M Rothschild & Sons
Limited, the international merchant bank with, at their core, nineteenth-
century correspondence relating to politics and finance throughout the
world.

The Archive is international both in its content and its readers and,
though it is not an essential, this would be an ideal opportunity for a
qualified archivist with skills in one or more European language to use
them in an archival context.

The Rothschild Archive is administered by a charitable Trust. The
Assistant Archivist will be employed by N M Rothschild & Sons Limited.

For further details, contact Caroline Shaw, Archivist, at
[log in to unmask], or call 020 7280 5808. Applicants, who
should hold an appropriate post-graduate qualification, should forward a
curriculum vitae and covering letter by 16 November 2007 to The Rothschild
Archive, New Court, St Swithin’s Lane, London EC4P 4DU, addressed to the
Director, Melanie Aspey.
