Wellcome Foundation Archives Project is looking for an Archives Assistant for a 6-month contract (full-time). Salary circa £20,000p.a. dependent on qualifications, skills and experience The Wellcome Trust is the largest charity in the UK. It funds innovative biomedical research, in the UK and internationally, with the aim of improving human and animal health. The Wellcome Library, one of the world's greatest collections for the study of the history of medicine and associated disciplines, is currently seeking a cataloguer to join a small project team working on the records of the Wellcome Foundation, the pharmaceuticals company whose profits enabled Sir Henry Wellcome to endow the Trust. The successful applicant will assist with the cataloguing of the Wellcome Foundation Archive collection to current professional standards, and the promotion of its use as a public research resource. This post requires a self-motivated and organised person who has a relevant undergraduate degree and an intention to train as a professional archivist. Previous experience in an archive environment and an awareness of current professional standards and practice would be an advantage. You will be a team player with good communication skills, a flexible approach to work and a willingness to learn.
