Dear lab community,

the porphyrias belong to what I call "medicine's dark corners" with a 
numbers of diagnoses (repeatedly ?) missed. This is why we offer the 
Hoesch test on a 24/7 basis.
Interestingly, we get most of the requests from Internal Medicine with 
only a few coming from Neurology and essentially none from Surgery ...
