Hi everyone. I want to apologize to the list for being the cause of this recent flame out. I like and enjoy you people and am sorry to have caused trouble. I specifically exclude Joe Green from this apology, however. I detest loudmouth know-it-alls & simply will not be in the room with them, even a virtual room. Here is what went down, from my perspective: I had grown weary, over the months, or Green's sniping anti-academic bullshit and when he served up that remark about never having liked bad poetry -- an insult to everyone who was discussing "reevaluations" & not just an insult, but a preening, self-aggrandizing insult -- I let him have it. I'm not sorry. As a matter of fact, I think his poetry is bad as well. So I am going to set my account to not deliver any Poetryetc mail & I'll busy my self with other things. I will remain subscribed and will remain (with Anny) a co-manager of the list, though on leave, as it were. (Sorry, Green, I know how much you want the job.) In a month or so, I will check back in, with the hope of finding the lively community I know & admire. At that point, Anny & I will decide how best to proceed. And if I may offer a bit of advice, list members ought to be recruiting new participants & Poetryetc ought to try to bring back some earlier members who have drifted away. If I decide to continue, this is something I will also try to do. Another idea would be for the list to nominate a small group of "elders" -- long-time list members, to advise the list managers when conflicts arise. Finally, I have been corresponding with Jiscmail regarding the long delays in posting messages to the list. There appear to have been two server-side issues, one masking the other. As of this morning, those seem to be resolved. I will keep my eye on the list-owners' forum & let Anny know if there are other problems.
