Defence Simulation Research and Support

The Simulation and Synthetic Environment Laboratory (SSEL) is seeking two staff to work in the small core team which supports its activities in Defence Modelling, Simulation and Synthetic Environments.

The positions will involve software design, implementation and support, as well as research and development and technical work in preparing, configuring and maintaining the SSEL, its facilities and applications.

In order to support courses and to conduct research and consultancy, the SSEL employs a wide range of simulation and related software.  This range comprises both locally developed specialist applications and externally provided ones, including constructive simulations, virtual simulators, computer generated forces, games engines and synthetic environment toolsets.  Relevant experience in some of these areas would be highly desirable, as would some familiarity or experience with the UK Defence sector.

Applicants are normally expected to have at least a first degree in a relevant discipline and preferably be able to demonstrate some relevant experience.  There are opportunities for staff to study for further postgraduate qualifications.
