medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture

"The question is how much publishing does your institution expect for tenure?"

Varies tremendously from u to u and from dept to dept. My former u was loathe to define "prestigious," and just try to pin down "enough." For promotion to full prof, one's work had to be reviewed by at least 3 pooh-bahs from external "prestigious" universities. Turns out the top scholar in my field, who had reviewed my book for a most prestigious journal, was at a university deemed "insufficiently prestigious" by the dean. It didn't help that the dean was a moron and knew very well I thought so. I wasn't very good at an activity for which this list would not appreciate the slang expression. But you know what I mean :-)))
