David, This isn't a helpful comment but we avoided the pstation server "like the plague" - went for KISS and just have students add value to their cards and do it all locally. I was wondering if anyone else has successfully implemented this combination. To be more specific, we have a PCounter data server, this seems to be configured correctly, overseen by Altman support. We have a PStation release station - this has the local printer, the card reader connected via Com1, is a standard XP Pro workstation with domain membership, and uses the "accounting DLL" provided by Altman for this model card reader. Jobs are queued and paused successfully on the PCounter server. PStation monitors the print queue correctly, allows a user to log on to select and release jobs, communicates with the card reader, even beeps when it should to alert the user to insert their card, but then PStation errors with one of 2 specific errors: either "Card not inserted in time" or "Card reader error: 50". Error 50 is not a documented error for the card reader. I am awaiting a debug version of the accounting DLL from Altman, but neither party has been able to move this forward, so I thought I would canvas help here. Any input would be appreciated, Regards Dave Thompson [log in to unmask] IT Support Analyst GSMD IT Helpdesk Guildhall School of Music & Drama Silk Street Barbican London EC2Y 8DT Tel: +44 (0)20 7382 5277 (Direct) Tel: +44 (0)20 7628 2571 Ext 7870 (Internal X7870)
