Stem Cell Science – Hope not Hype
6-9pm, 10 October
Techniquest Science Centre, Cardiff

You are invited to join leading experts to discuss the future of stem cell
science.

Understanding the biology of stem cells offers hope to sufferers of
currently incurable diseases, such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson’s disease.
However the ethical implications of stem cell science are complex and some
people question the use cells from human embryos.

Come and hear from researchers Prof. Sir Martin Evans and Dr Nick Allen
(Cardiff University) as they explain what stem cells are and talk about
their work. Dr Christine Hauskeller (University of Exeter) will talk about
the ethical and societal issues that stem cell science raises. The
discussion will then be open to the floor to allow the audience to join the
debate and question the panel. The meeting will be chaired by Dr Sue Cavell,
Head of Research and Evaluation at Techniquest.

This event is open to everyone.
