Book Launch: The Cinema of Lars von Trier
Danish Film Institute & the Arnold Busck Bookshop
27 & 28 September

The forthcoming title, The Cinema of Lars von Trier: Authenticity and Artifice <http://rs6.net/tn.jsp?t=hnbqaecab.0.jszlbecab.blgv5xbab.5911&ts=S0270&p=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.wallflowerpress.co.uk%2Fpublications%2Fdirectors%2Flars_von_trier.html> , is due to be launched this month at two special events in Copenhagen. On 27 September, Wallflower Press will be joining forces with the Danish Film Institute to host an evening of film and discussion at the Cinematique Book & Video Shop. Proceedings will kick off at 5.30pm with a discussion between Caroline Bainbridge, the author of the book, and Stig Björkman, director of the fascinating documentary, Tranceformer: A Portrait of Lars von Trier (1997). Caroline will then be available to sign copies of her book before a film programme of Lars von Trier's early works and screening of scenes from a new film scripted by the director, Erik Nietsche - The Young Years, at the Asta Bio.

The following day at 4pm, there will be a launch party at the Arnold Busck bookshop, where Caroline will again be signing copies of this excellent addition to our Directors' Cuts series. Analysing the enormous impact von Trier has had on contemporary film, the book forges a new understanding of the founder of Dogme 95 as a great democratiser of cinema and one of the most daring cinematic exponents of postmodern politics and satire.
