Thanks Michael Researcher - Sea Your History Responsible to: Project Manager - Sea Your History Grade: Curatorial Officer G - Pay Band E1 Salary: £16,665 per annum Pension: Non Contributory Group Money Purchase Plan, which staff are eligible to join after successful period of probation. Entry dates to the scheme are January and August. Hours of Work: 37 Hours per week net of lunch breaks. Probation: Six months Contract: Until July 2008 CRB Disclosure: Standard Uniformed: No Job Purpose: To identify, research, digitise and interpret material from the collections of the Royal Naval Museum, and the Royal Navy Submarine Museum, to be made available online through the 'Sea Your History' project. * To liase with curatorial staff to select material from the collections for digitisation, and to draw up work schedules. * Liase with the Royal Navy Submarine Museum and draw up work schedules. * Supervise individual volunteers working on the project. * To document procedures, actions, correspondence and approvals using manual and computerised workflow systems. * To research and write content for virtual exhibitions and educational resources. * Prepare content for 'Sea Your History' showcase exhibition and travelling exhibition. * To prepare original materials for digitisation and either digitise in-house, or liase with digitisation bureau. * Assist the Museum Photographer in studio photography. * To carry out Quality Assurance procedures, including visual inspection of digitised resources and comparison with their originals. * To index and describe digital resources with appropriate data and library/archives metadata, to allow efficient retrieval of items by a number of different search paths. * To assist in promoting the project and its website to all audiences. * To undertake other relevant duties as directed by the Project Manager.
