Most government departments are now using competency frameworks in their recruitment procedures. This event will help candidates get to grip with the requirements.
The morning is a training event, describing the recruitment process and providing advice on filling in application forms and preparing for interviews effectively.
In the afternoon, there will be a panel discussion introducing the key competency frameworks in government- Professional Skills for Government and the Knowledge, Information and Records Management Competencies- and discussing the implications of the competency approach for professional development.
Speakers include Alison Raisin (Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform, and chair of the Committee of Departmental Librarians Training and Education Futures Group), Deborah Barker (Government Skills), Isabel Hood (Career Development Group), James Denmead (Ministry of Defence) and Lorna Bankes (HM Revenue and Customs)
