CILIP Information Services Group (London & South East Section) invites you to attend the following day course: BLOGS & WIKIS IN LIBRARIES, OUR NEW BEST FRIENDS? Venue: CILIP, 7 Ridgmount Street, London WC1E 7AE Date: Thursday 8th November 2007 Time: 9.15am -4.30pm Course Leader: Karen Blakeman Cost (to include morning coffee, lunch and afternoon tea) : CILIP Information Service Group members - £70.00 plus £12.25 VAT Non-members of Information Services Group - £80.00 plus £14 VAT If you have ever felt bewildered by blogs or wondered about wikis and how they might fit into your information service, this is the course for you! These new methods for creating, sharing and disemminating information are developing quickly. The course will be led by Karen Blakeman, a leading consultant and trainer in this area. The morning will consider the potential of blogs, wikis and RSS in libraries, how to produce blogs and wikis, use RSS and search for information using these technologies. The afternoon will be given over to demonstration and discussion sessions in small groups with blogers and wiki contributors/creators to help explore the isssues involved in the successful use of these resources. The afternoon programme is being finalised, but we plan to include case studies from a broad mix of academic and public libraries, government, health and corporate organisations.
