Representations of Motherhood and Postnatal Depression in Relation to Culture - Dr Laura Griffith
Tuesday 2nd October 2007, 12:30- 14:00
Women's Library, Old Castle St, E1 7NT (Nearest tube: Aldgate East)
Dr Laura Griffith is Research Fellow at Warwick Medical School with interests in social anthropology, mental health and ethnicity. Laura's PhD focused on representations of Bangladeshi women in the maternity services in east London. Previous work in East London has included collecting public health data for Sure Start Spitalifields and Weavers project, and researching the impact of a BBC 'New Arrivals' language learning website. Laura joined the University of Warwick to work with the National Centre for Research in Ethnicity and Mental Health investigating the mechanisms and processes that underlie ethnic variation in experiences of psychiatric treatment.

The Community Research Network is a forum for health researchers, practitioners, community workers and the public to discuss and get support for research projects in an informal environment. Meetings are aimed at creating a network of participants interested in research and action on health related issues in East London. Meetings are funded by SUMEHR and chaired by John Eversley (London Metropolitan University)

Meetings are open to the public, free of charge and all are welcome. If you would like to attend we ask that you register (by emailing [log in to unmask]) so that we have some idea of numbers.
