Education, University of London, is now taking bookings for the
following modules on systematic review production and use.

* Research Synthesis for Policy and Practice (October-November 2007 or
January-February 2008.

* Evidence for policy, practice and personal decisions (February-March
2008);

* Methods for Research Synthesis (May-June 2008)

Each module is taught in 4 one day workshops and can be taken both as a
short course <http://eppi.ioe.ac.uk/cms/Default.aspx?tabid=701>  without
assessment or as a module
<http://eppi.ioe.ac.uk/cms/Default.aspx?tabid=701>  (for 30 credits).

The modules form part of the Centre's new MSc in Evidence for Public
Policy and Practice <http://eppi.ioe.ac.uk/cms/Default.aspx?tabid=692> .
This MSc equips students with conceptual and practical skills for
conducting and appraising systematic reviews and evaluating the
potential for the use of research evidence to inform policy and
practice. Students study theory, empirical research, and practical
examples of all types of research evidence so as to cover a broad range
of approaches to synthesis, models of research use, research questions,
study types and types of data.

Key features:

* Who are these courses for? They have been designed for graduates and
policy-makers, practitioners, managers and researchers who want to
become more skilled in systematic reviewing and develop a critical
understanding of the relationships between research evidence and public
policy and practice.

* Disciplines: Students will be encouraged to build their studies around
their own areas of interest, including health and health promotion.

* Workshops: Each course is taught in 4 whole day workshops (about a
week apart) plus on line assignments between workshops

* Flexibility: Modules can be taken as short courses without
accreditation. The MSc can be completed in one year full-time or over
two years part-time. MSc students can enrol in either October or
January.

A small number of student placements
<http://eppi.ioe.ac.uk/cms/Default.aspx?tabid=1901>  are available.
These consist of working alongside SSRU staff on current EPPI-Centre
research projects as a paid temporary researcher
