Dear everyone We are currently trying to adapt a room on campus for a student with very complex needs. This includes adapting the kitchen area. Normally, we would liaise directly with the student's OT department in their home town, however, this is proving increasingly difficult, particularly for funding specialist equipment - e.g. bed, bath etc.. We have written directly to the Assistant Director of Social Services and the student has contacted their MP who is lobbying on her behalf. I was wondering if anyone knew of any government guidelines on this issue, or if there is any particular legislative requirements placed on Social Services departments, above and beyond the DDA to provide equipment? If so, where we could find it? Trying to establish the boundaries in terms of who provides what would help enormously.
