Please circulate widely -- The Department of Geography in the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences II at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin invites applications for a Full Professorship (W3) in Cultural and Social Geography to begin on 1st of October 2008. The new professor is expected to demonstrate a commitment to research and to teaching excellence at all levels and in all degree programmes. We are seeking to appoint an active researcher (third party funds) with significant experience (publications, research projects) in urban/metropolitan studies. The Department of Geography at Humboldt-Universität has a designated focus on urban geography (geography of large cities) with regards to both teaching (e.g., its master programme) and research (e.g., its post graduate programme). It is required that the new professor actively engages in this area, making use of intra- and interdisciplinary networks. In order to be appointed as a professor, applicants need to be qualified according to §100 of the Berliner Hochschulgesetz. The Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin seeks to increase the number of qualified women in teaching and research positions and strongly encourages applications by qualified women.
