The Department of Geography in the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural
Sciences II at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin invites applications for a

Full Professorship (W3) in Cultural and Social Geography

to begin on 1st of October 2008.

The new professor is expected to demonstrate a commitment to research
and to teaching excellence at all levels and in all degree programmes.
We are seeking to appoint an active researcher (third party funds) with
significant experience (publications, research projects) in
urban/metropolitan studies. The Department of Geography at
Humboldt-Universität has a designated focus on urban geography
(geography of large cities) with regards to both teaching (e.g., its
master programme) and research (e.g., its post graduate programme). It
is required that the new professor actively engages in this area, making
use of intra- and interdisciplinary networks.

In order to be appointed as a professor, applicants need to be qualified
according to §100 of the Berliner Hochschulgesetz.

The Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin seeks to increase the number of
qualified women in teaching and research positions and strongly
encourages applications by qualified women. Researchers from abroad are
also encouraged to apply. Handicapped persons with equivalent
qualifications will be given preference.

Candadates are invited to submit their application under the reference
number PR/021/07 alongside the usual documents (Curriculum Vitae
supported by certificates, list of publications, teaching experience) by
31st of October 2007 to:
