Hi David - Everyone

Thanks for the info re ISA in Barcelona. I will be there in the spring on a filed trip but I could be persuaded to return in the autumn.

Sounds liek a good thing and I for one would welcome the opportunity of meeting up with international colleagues for an urban study group meeting since unfortunaley I cant make the BSA conference.

Cheers

Two things. I would be willing to do a piece for this relating to the overall  theme of the conference i.e. the relationship between the natural and the social - for which a working title would be:

'The Complex Urban - urban systems as social and  natural complex systems'.

Second, Dennis Keating from Cleveland State University Ohio has just been visiting Durham and is next year's President of the Urban Group of the ISA which (ISA as a whole and study groups) is meeting in Barcelona  in September 2008. See:

http://www.isa-sociology.org/barcelona_2008/

Given that the  theme is Sociological Research and Public Debate perhaps group members might see this as something worthwhile and drag their unwilling carcases to that hellhole Barcelona?

Subject: BSA Annual Conference 2008 - Study Group Sessions

I'm checking round the UTR membership to see if we can put forward a panel session for the BSA conference 2008. If you would like to participate please let me know as soon as possible as we only have until the 30th of September to get it sent in.

I need to send in the:
Title of the event
Names and details of speakers
Format of the event
A one paragraph description of the event we could use for publicity
If you would like to help set this up please do let me know as soon as possible. At this stage I'm looking for 3 to 4 paper titles for a standard UTR session in the conference, but we are also open to more creative suggestions for urban related events/exhibitions. If you have any thoughts that we can turn around quickly please do let me know.

Thanks

Peter
