MSc in MEDICAL STATISTICS
University of Leicester, UK

Due to unforseen circumstances, a studentship is available for entry at
the start of Oct 2007 worth £12,600 + UK/EU fees (only UK/EU students with
3-year residency are eligble)

Based within the Medical School at the University of Leicester, this well
established and successful one year full-time or two-three years part-time
course is intended mainly for students with a good honours degree of which
mathematics/statistics is the main subject, and with a working knowledge
of basic probability and statistics. Other applicants with an appropriate
mathematical background (for example, including calculus and linear
algebra) will be considered.

The orientation of the course is applied and vocational; it aims to
produce graduates who can immediately work as medical statisticians in
pharmaceutical companies, research units and the NHS or continue onto a
PhD. While all necessary theory is covered, the emphasis throughout is on
applying and adapting it to real-life circumstances. Practical work makes
extensive use of standard statistical packages, including SAS, Stata and
WinBUGS. All modules are delivered only to the MSc Medical Statistics
students.
