Engaging Science is a grants programme offering over £3 million per year to support projects that engage the public with biomedical science and its social contexts.

We are offering free grants workshops for those interested in applying.

The next workshop will be in Edinburgh on Thursday 20 September 2007 at Point Conference Centre

Other upcoming workshops will take place in:

  • London on Friday 23 November 2007, at the Wellcome Trust
  • Belfast on Thursday 24 January 2008 (venue tbc)
  • Liverpool on Thursday 10 April 2008 (venue tbc)
  • Bristol on Thursday 3 July 2008 (venue tbc)
  • York on Thursday 18 September 2008 (venue tbc)

At the workshops you will get information on our Engaging Science grant schemes (People, Arts and Society Awards), including an overview of the grants programme, the aims and objectives of the awards, and details of the application and review process.

The workshops will start at 10.30 am and finish at 5.00 pm.

Other highlights:

  • How to produce an appropriate grant application
  • Exchange ideas and develop partnerships and collaborations
  • The chance to meet previous and existing grant holders and hear their experiences, from the application process right through to running and completing a successful project
  • Individual grant surgeries with Wellcome Trust staff from each of the Engaging Science grants schemes
  • A session on how to get suitable scientific input into your project

Sessions are free to attend, but you need to book your place in advance. Previous workshops have been oversubscribed, so please apply early for places and be aware that we will only offer one place per organisation at any one event, though if others wish to attend they will be placed on a waiting list.

Please email [log in to unmask] if you would like to attend a workshop, stating which one you are interested in attending. The deadline for applying for places for the Edinburgh workshop is Friday 7 September.
