medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture

Sounds wonderful, but what is it? Could you please provide a translation
for those of us who are linguistically handicapped?

In addition, August 1st is also Lammas Day, when the first loaves are
baked from the first fruits of the wheat harvest, and thanks is rendered
to God for the First Fruits of the harvest. Prior to the rise the use of
Azyme Bread, bread baked from the first of the wheat harvest would have
been consecrated at the Eucharist on Lammas Day. (Old English: "Hlaf
Mæsse daeg," Loaf Mass Day.) King Alfred, of course, mentions Lammas Day.

 From A.D. 917, the Anglo-Saxon Chronicles (A) entry is:
Her on flysum gere foran to Eastron Eadweard cyning het gefaran fla burg
