Love Libraries in search for Top Ten New Librarians

If the answer is yes to all of the above and you have entered into a new career in public libraries in the last three years (working in any public library role) we want to hear from you!
The Love Libraries competition, run by the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (MLA), is aiming to find ten innovative and inspiring individuals who are transforming public libraries with their fresh ideas, creativity and enthusiasm.

The competition will highlight and celebrate the excellent work being done by new members of library staff and challenge traditional stereotypes of people who work in libraries.
The top ten will be chosen by last year’s winning ‘Young Librarians of the Future’, who were rewarded for their passion and commitment to the library service.
Tabitha Witherick was selected for her involvement in establishing the Somerset Libraries local community information project, and expanding the service from a library initiative to a county council and voluntary sector partnership.
Micheal Stead of Bolton Library Service was selected for his innovative use of new technologies to enhance and expand the reach of the library service.
Richard Pemberton for his efforts in encouraging more teenage boys into the library, through playstation clubs, homework clubs and informal reading groups.
