Call for Papers

The Arab Thought Forum, the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), 
University of London and the Centre for International Business and 
Innovation (CIBI), Manchester Metropolitan University are organising a 
conference on ‘Globalisation, Economic Reforms, Aid and Democracy in the 
Arab World’. The conference will be opened and presided over by HRH Prince 
El Hassan bin Talal, the founder and President of the Arab Thought Forum.

The conference is of particular interest to the international business 
community, academics, the policy-making community and international 
organisations, such as the IMF, World Bank and WTO.

The conference invites high-quality theoretical, empirical and policy 
contributions linked to the conference themes from academics and policy-
makers. The deadline for the receipt of extended abstracts is 06 October 
2007.

A series of keynote speeches will be delivered by distinguished experts, 
provisionally: HRH Prince El Hassan bin Talal; Professor Hafiz Mirza, 
Investment Analysis Branch, UNCTAD; Hilary Rantisi, Director of the Middle 
East Initiative of the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard 
University and Professor Abdul-Aziz Sachedina, University of Virginia.
