MARKETING AND STRATEGIC PLANNING FOR THE ACADEMIC LIBRARY
30 October & 20 November 2007, London

Strategic planning and marketing planning are often taught separately but within an organisation they are intimately linked. Marketing initiatives are unlikely to be effective if not within a strategic planning framework; strategic plans are unlikely to be achieved if not sold and communicated to all stakeholders through an effective combination of direct marketing to students and internal marketing to other stakeholders.

BENEFITS OF ATTENDING
This course will provide participants with a rare practical approach to integrating strategic planning and marketing planning - implementing strategic priorities and choices through marketing activities aimed at both students and other stakeholders.

BY THE END OF THE EVENT PARTICIPANTS WILL HAVE:
· gained an understanding of why strategic planning and marketing planning are natural allies in providing value to stakeholders
· a detailed understanding of the strategic planning and marketing planning processes
· a set of tools and techniques to use in integrating strategic and marketing planning

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
· Senior managers who devise or influence policy for their library service
· Those who are expected, or are expecting, to make a significant input into any service plan
· Staff looking for a way to integrate several marketing initiatives within general strategic planning

COURSE LEADER
Terry Kendrick originally trained as a librarian and after a career in Gloucestershire, Northumberland, Norfolk and Essex moved into marketing planning in 1987. Since then he has worked on strategic and marketing planning assignments in seventeen different countries for over fifty organisations - private and public sector.
