the effects could be disastrous. my young family and partner have said 
unequivocally that they'll not tolerate me working those hours, even with 
shift work. heaven alone knows what will happen to recruitment+retention of 
GPRs or young GPs especially when the large majority now are women who may 
have even heavier family considerations than me. many of our GPRs have said 
that a major attraction into GMS was the better hours now, not necessarily 
the pay.
