Have I understood your sentence correctly? (" for if I have read it correctly is offensive" )

We could settle for mutual incomprehension but, like it or not, I will try to explain.. the OED defines irony as " the expression of meaning through the use of words which normally mean the opposite, typically in order to be humorous in order to emphasize a point" .

Would you like to explain your last sentence, for if I have read it correctly is offensive

Yes, the term Officer reeks of class division (us and them) and should be avoided at all costs. Stick with co-ordinator, it is the safest option. In my experience very few of those involved in disability work in HE can actually manage anything.

Hello Colleagues.

Here at York St John University we are currently trying to better define what the role of a Disability ' Officer' is as opposed to a disability ' co-ordinator' or ' manager' .

Is anyone, from their own experience, able to define for me the difference between the roles?

Alternatively, if you have the title of ' Officer' I would be most grateful to receive a copy of your job description (off line if preferred) if you are happy to forward to me.

I very much look forward to your responses.

Very best wishes

Wendy
