Christine,
It is late afternoon and my intention was
to be jocular while at the same time making a serious point. Perhaps I
should have been more cautious but, what the heck, live dangerously in the hope
that those who work in disability in HE are not precluded from having the
ability to manage humour.

It would be wrong to give the
impression that those undertaking disability work in HE are precluded
from having the ability to manage.

Yes, the term Officer reeks of class
division (us and them) and should be avoided at all costs. Stick with
co-ordinator, it is the safest option. In my experience very few of those
involved in disability work in HE can actually manage anything.

Subject: disability officer role
Hello Colleagues.
Here at
Is anyone, from their own experience, able to define
for me the difference between the roles?
Alternatively, if you have the title of ‘Officer’ I
would be most grateful to receive a copy of your job description (off line if
preferred) if you are happy to forward to me.
I very much look forward to your responses.
Very best wishes
Wendy
