So setting up the siginifier´counter-terrorism´ isn´t prescribing objects of 
research through ideology, then?

O thank god! Because that means that President Bush really *does* know what 
he´s talking about, and thence it must follow, as the night must the day, 
that he cannot then be false to any man...

Perhaps I´ll just stay here in Rio de Janeiro and teach, ooh, I don´t know, 
´Democratization studies´, or something equally non-judgemental and 
value-free...

Before we all get too carried away, it does not specify what the results of 
the study should be. I am rather wary of attempts to prescribe certain 
'objects' of research through ideology (whether I happen to share that 
ideology or not). It is perfectly possible to imagine critical methods and 
critical results from such a study. It's clear that the PI wants critical 
geogaphers to apply...
